Most sleep-aid products on the market claim that you need to put foreign
chemicals or herbs into your bloodstream in order to sleep better. Sleep
experts strongly disagree with this strategy. It also goes against common
sense, given that we humans slept just fine for a few million years without
drugs or herbs.
Sleep experts agree that the root causes of insomnia are behaviors that we
have adopted due to our sedentary, complex lifestyles born after the
industrial revolution. They also agree that these causes are wholly ignored
by the effects of sleeping pills and herbs placed in the bloodstream.
To conquer chronic insomnia, the root causes must be attacked, and to do
this, a few simple changes to daily habits must be made. Deep Sleep 101
explains why we are sleeping poorly, and then provides seven simple
techniques that conquer insomnia. One of those techniques is listening to
relaxing music in the hour before bedtime.
